7th May 2008

We have relocated our stud from Victoria to beautiful sunny Queensland and so far it has been cliché just like the ads on TV; 'Beautiful one day and perfect the next'! Thankyou to everyone who has welcomed us and sent through their best wishes for our move.

Below are some photos of the new property, all of our horses are going to think that they have died and gone to heaven when they see their new pasture. They are all due to arrive late next week.

Our last show in Victoria was the VIC State Paint Show which was held the weekend before we left for Queensland.

Overall we had a very enjoyable time and a lovely send off from our Victorian friends. We will miss you guys dearly and look forward to catching up with you soon.

CPS Intenselysophisticated had a great show winning;

State YEARLING FUTURITY Champion

State Champion Yearling Paint Filly

State GRAND CHAMPION Paint Mare

State Champion American Paint Mare

State Champion Amateur Paint Mare

There were some quality horses showing against Sophie and we are very proud of her accomplishments and love the two beautiful buckles that she won at the show.

CPS A Star is Born  (our bay weanling QH filly An Obsession X Count Me In) showed on Saturday at the pre state western show. Under judge Mike Elliott she won;

QH Filly 2yrs & under

GRAND CHAMPION QH MARE

Unfortunately after a bad fright in the marshalling area, Star became ill and we had to retire her during the judging for Supreme QH. She was unable to show for the rest of the day but has now fully recovered and is fine. We did not get any photos of Star but we will take some as soon as she arrives in QLD and update the site.

I have updated both Oh Im Awesome and DMB Platinum's web pages with the gorgeous photos taken by Mel Cruden at their photo shoot in February. We are so happy with the way both of these boys are maturing. They are currently being agisted at Ricnor Park in Victoria and Maya reports that they are both on their very best behavior. They are due to arrive in QLD late next week.

With just 2 weeks until our big move & stud relocation to QLD, we are very busy with packing and planning the move. GRAND CHAMPION American Stallion

State Champion American Yearling Stallion

Res GRAND CHAMPION Stallion A/O

State Champion Yearling Stallion A/O

Platinum had many admirers who came up to congratulate him on a great show. Many people stated that they could not get over his muscle definition for a yearling and how beautifully behaved he is for a yearling colt. We are certainly very happy with the success that Platinum has had in the show ring so far.

Below are some photos that I snapped of Platinum when we arrived home.

CPS Intenselysophisticated (Sophie) showed last week at the Yarra Valley Classic, winning GRAND CHAMPION Paint mare. It was dissapointing that the numbers of paint horses showing was very low and Sophie had a rest from showing this week in the 40C heat.

We look forward to seeing more paint horses out showing as the industry recovers from the effects of EI.

Sophie will next we shown at the Victorian State Paint Show in April.

From Belinda, Kevin, Tristan & all at Chyandra Park Stud

We have certainly been busy over the last few months of 2007. We have sold our property in Victoria and in May 2008 we will be undertaking the exciting yet mammoth task of moving our whole stud to QLD!! Thankyou to everyone in QLD that have already offered support and encouragement for our move.

We have purchased a property in beautiful Delaneys Creek, 50 minutes north of Brisbane Airport. With  600 meters of absolute creek frontage, our horses are sure to enjoy grazing the lush creek flats, while we are sure to enjoy watching them from the new house that comes with the property!

The majority of Delaneys Creek is great dairy country and thankfully enjoys high annual rainfall which will be a welcome change.

In other news, Belinda is now a qualified Equine Artificial Insemination Technician after successfully completing the relevant components of the Advanced Diploma of Horse Management.

Importantly, what this means is that commencing the 2008 breeding season, we will be waiving the stallion collection fees on both of our stallions for the first collection/shipment (stallion service & freight fees will apply).

In 2008 our stallions stud fees will be;

$1000 for Oh Im Awesome Multiple National and State Champion;   and

$1250 for DMB Platinum National Champion, AHS Grand Champion & Futurity Champion, (guaranteed dilute coloured foal from non grey mares).

10% Discount Available for Multiple Mare Bookings!!!

Collection fees will not apply for the first collection (freight fees are additional).

DMB Platinum's book is filling fast as he will be standing to a limited number of mares for his first season. Please contact us by e-mail or phone 0434 503 843 to ensure a place for your mare and to avoid disappointment.

In 2008 we will also offer on farm insemination for client's mares. Please contact Belinda for further details.

Thankyou to all of our wonderful clients and friends who bred their mares to Oh Im Awesome this season.

Arnie filled his book relatively early in the season, and there will be 12 'Awesome' foals due from August 2008. We simply cant wait!

Please check back during the breeding season as we will be providing regular updates and photos of the new arrivals. We have 4 of our own AWESOME babies due out of our best mares and they will all be for sale. Expressions of interest are now being taken for these foals. Please go to our foals page for a full list of our mares that have PTIF to Arnie.

For those people disappointed that they were unable to breed to Oh Im Awesome this year (due to his limited book and/or EI), he has proven himself a potent stallion with a 100% Conception Rate and we have opened his book for the 2008 season. Please contact us if you would like to make a booking.

Finally, we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Safe & Happy New Year. We hope that everyone that has been affected by EI have a much healthier and prosperous 2008! We hope to see everyone back out in show ring in the New Year.

Kevin, Belinda & Tristan

Thankyou once again to Burke's Stud for the chance to breed to this remarkable stallion.

Touchdown Kid (USA/DECEASED)

The positive pregnancy tests are continuing to come in for mare's already bred to Oh Im Awesome. Arnie is proving himself to be a very fertile stud with a 100% first cycle conception rate so far.

Congratulations to all of our clients whose mares have already tested in foal. Arnie has been very fortunate this year to have some wonderful mares booked to him and we eagerly await all of his 2008 foals. Thankyou all for your faith in this wonderful young stallion.

I will post a list of foals coming in 2008 soon - please check back for details.

We are still shaking our heads at how lucky we have been this season! Only two foals due and both are fillies!!!!

After 6 colts in a row, Coco (Count Me In) has given us exactly what we had dreamed for ~ a stunning Q/H BAY FILLY!!!!!!   This cross to an Obsession* was certainly produced the foal that we had hoped for, she is HUGE! 'Sammy' has even put a very pretty little head on her. She actually looks like a mini Obsession* with a matching white star on her forehead.

She is 1/2 sister to the 2007 NATIONAL & STATE GRAND CHAMPION PHAA P/B COLT 'CPS Count Woodstock'

She is also a 1/2 sibling to the 2007 AQHA NATIONAL, NPHA & NSW STATE CHAMPION 'JVQ Devotion' (Sire: An Obsession*  Dam: Crackerjacks Slipper).

This photo was taken shortly after her birth. I will update photos regularly, so please check for updates ......

Just back from the Qld State Paint Championship show. The weather was fantastic and a welcome break from the freezing conditions that we have been experiencing down here in Victoria lately. I had a great time at the show, it had a very relaxed atmosphere and friendly competition.

Thankyou very much to Oh Im Awesome's (Arnie's) new trainers Mark and Marie Farmer for the wonderful results that they achieved with him at the show ~ Qld State Reserve Champion in both Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle!!!! The judge, Deanna Akin from the USA, was particularly impressed with Arnie. She took the time after one of the classes to approach Marie and complement our big fellow who she had nicknamed 'Big Bubba' during the show. The judge initially commented that Arnie was going to be a great kid's  mount and asked whether the kids hang from his tail? When Marie pointed out that Arnie is in fact a colt, the judge was quite taken back and very impressed! She then invited Arnie to stand at her ranch in the USA any time!

Arnie is coming home to Victoria next week to complete his stud duties. He will return to Mark and Marie early in the new year for his 3YO season and we look forward to his continued success under saddle.

Keep an eye out for our Arnie on the front cover of Horse Deals - Stallions at Stud Edition!

We still have a few breedings available to Arnie for the 2007 season, so please contact us if you would like to reserve a service or if you would like a contract sent out to you.

18-6--07

We have just arrived home from our very cold and wet trip to NSW for the AQHA National Show Q7 & NSWPHA State Show. It was a very eventful trip to say the least. I cannot recommend trying to camp in the middle of one of NSW'S worst storms in history... After our tent collapsed in the middle of the storm, and our annexe had a foot of water flowing through it, we moved into a comfortable and cozy (if not very cramped) cabin where we were able to dry out and warm up for the next week and a half!

On our trip to NSW (in between the rain storms) we were fortunate to visit both JVQ Stud and Burkes Stud. It was great to visit both of these top studs. Many thanks to Jackie and Kylie (at JVQ) and Melissa and Di (at Burkes) for showing us all of your wonderful horses.

DMB Platinum ~ National

Champion A/O Weanling Colt. Photo by Karalinga

Our first show was the AQHA Nationals Q7. The weather was absolutely appalling for Halter Day. The rain and wind were later described by the weather bureau as the equivalent of a cyclone (the winds were in excess of 100Km/h and we received over 200 mLs of rain in a day and a half!).

DMB Platinum has now added a NATIONAL CHAMPION title to his accomplishments, after winning the 2006 Weanling Colt A/O.  We were also very proud of our boy when he placed 3rd overall in the Weanling Futurity!

GSQ Texas Te (Jet) also had success at the Nationals, placing 3rd in both her Open & Amateur classes in a strong field of Aged Mares.

Our next show was the NSWPHA State Show. Again another horrible day for showing (NSW coldest June day on record!). Our gorgeous weanling filly Sophie (CPS Intenselysophisticated) was sick all week with a virus (no doubt exasperated by the dreadful weather) and dropped a lot of condition due to her poor appetite and fever.  It was touch and go whether she would even show due to her virus, and on Halter Morning it came down to whether or not she would pass a temperature check. Her temperature was OK to show and we decided to let her go out there and give it a go. The field of weanlings for the $5,000 Belinda Abbott Memorial Weanling Halter Futurity was one of the strongest we have shown against this year. Despite all odds Sophie has done it yet again, winning the Futurity!!! Once again she was a popular winner with the crowd and I promise to reply to everyone within the next few days that has sent us through their congratulations. Sophie has now taken out the trifecta ~ the National, NSW & VIC State Weanling Paint Futurities and has won over $10,000 in prizemoney and prizes!!! We cant wait to see how this beauty matures.

Thankyou very much to Jackie Hardwicke of JVQ Stud for sponsoring the First Place Prizemoney of $5,000 in memory of Vivian Anderson.

CPS Count Woodstock also had a great show for his owners Alysha & Nathan Hardy of Hardays Stud. In the Belinda Abbott Memorial Weanling Futurity, Woody was part of a three way tie for 2nd place and was awarded overall 4th place  (due to the tie-breaker judges placings). Woody also won STATE GRAND CHAMPION Paintbred Stallion & STATE CHAMPION A/O Paintbred Stallion. Nathan & Alysha have had great success with Woody this year, and we wish them ongoing success next season.

Our 2YO colt Oh Im Awesome (Arnie) did not show at the NSW State Show as he is having a well deserved rest from showing after his successful campaign at the NPHA. He has gone up to QLD to his new trainers Mark & Marie Farmer who are going to campaign Arnie under saddle next season. Arnie will return home next month to stand at stud here at Chyandra Park in Victoria for the 2007 breeding season, and he will return to Mark early in the new year for his 3yo season.

Our other show horses will also all take a well earned rest over winter. The foals (Sophie & Platinum) will both be turned out and be allowed to grow and mature naturally. They have both had exceptional weanling campaigns and we look forward to taking them out again next season for their yearling year.

I hope you all enjoy the new colour scheme and updated photos that I have posted throughout the site.

WOW!!!! Our stallion Oh Im Awesome (Arnie) had a sensational campaign last weekend at the NPHA.  Arnie made the final of the $20,000 2YO Western Pleasure Futurity in a field of 29 of Australia's finest performance bred horses. Arnie & Adam also finaled in his other event, the Ltd 2YO Western Pleasure Futurity again in a field of 29 horses!

Arnie won a beautiful GIST buckle for being the highest placed paint horse for the 2YO WP Futurity.

Top 10 in both futurities was a wonderful accomplishment in such a strong field. Arnie certainly attracted a lot of interest and had a great following at the show. Thankyou to everyone who has contacted us to congratulate us on Arnie's success.

We had an awesome show this weekend at the GRAC Futurity Show, taking out all of the major halter awards with our horses. Thanks to GRAC for the great prizes on offer (Wine, Trophies, and lots more) and especially to Lisa Mott for her fabulous Garlands (we were lucky enough to bring home 4). Thankyou also to Lisa and her husband for snapping the great photos of our horses.

We are just home from the National Paint Show at Dubbo. We are still on cloud nine and cannot believe our outstanding results from the National show .....

We are so proud of our beautiful girl Sophie ~ 'CPS Intenselysophisticated'. Sophie was bred, raised and prepped her at CPS. Against some amazing competition, and under three American Judges, Sophie won the;

SUPREME WEANLING FUTURITY EXHIBIT!!!!!

National Weanling Filly Futurity,

National Champion Weanling Filly &

YISC Weanling Futurity Champion!!!!

It has been a long road for Sophie, from her difficult birth to her various setbacks during her show preparation, but it has all been worth the worry and the hard work! We could not be more proud of her gorgeous temperament which is only enhanced by her gorgeous looks! Sophie was certainly a crowd favourite. Thankyou to everyone who offered their congratulations and positive comments on Sophie, she sure did steal a lot of hearts. We had a lot of enquiries about whether Sophie is for sale - sorry guys she is definitely not for sale.  Sophie will stay here at CPS and we are sure she will make a great youth horse for our son Tristan in years to come. You can visit Sophie's webpage here.

2007 National Champion OH IM AWESOME

Our 2YO paint colt Oh Im Awesome (ABOVE) also surprised us by winning at halter despite being in ridden condition!!! Arnie has another National Halter Title to his credit ~

2007 NATIONAL CHAMPION 2YO COLT!!!!

Arnie was also awarded the Reserve Champion for the 2YO Halter Futurity.

Arnie placed well in his ridden classes, against great competition placing under saddle in the Western Pleasure, Trial & Hunter Under Saddle Futurities.

Congratulations to Deb & Trevor Lewis. A Mighty Striker (CPS 2004 Paint Gelding out of SC No Shame on Me) is now a;

NATIONAL GRAND CHAMPION GELDING!!!

& National Champion 2YO Gelding

Deb & Trev bought a Mighty Striker from us in 2004 after coming for a visit and 'just to have a look'. Deb fell in love with Striker at only a few weeks old, and just had to have him. Deb successfully campaigned him at the Victorian State Championship Show in 2005. Striker won the Victorian State Weanling Futurity & State Champion Weanling Colt as well as other futurities that season. Unfortunately Striker fell ill on the trip to Dubbo as a weanling.

Deb & Striker successfully defended their Victorian State titles in 2006 and 2007. This year was Striker's return trip to the Nationals after falling ill as a weaner, and what a return! CONGRATULATIONS GUYS! We are very proud of Striker and all that he has accomplished. We look forward to see him competing soon under saddle.

CONGRATULATIONS also to Nathan and Alysha Hardy on the success that CPS Count Woodstock (CPS 2006 Weanling colt out of Count Me In) had at the show. Woody is now a;

NATIONAL GRAND CHAMPION PAINTBRED STALLION!!

National Champion Paint Bred Colt

A/O Reserve National Champion Paintbred Stallion

Placed Paintbred Weanling Futurity

(awarded 1st under 1 of the USA Judges!)

What a wonderful introduction to paint horses for Nathan & Alysha - a National Grand Champion at their first National show. We wish Woody, Nathan & Alysha similar success at the upcoming shows!

Many thanks to Dean Grass and Phoebe, who campaigned GSQ Texas Te (Jet) for us at the Quarter Horse Congress last weekend while we were away at the Paint Nationals.

Under an American Judge, Jet was awarded;
